It has been five years since Garmin launched the entry-level Forerunner 55 – and in that time, the bar has risen for what a budget-friendly running watch can do. Coros came out with the Pace 3 and Pace 4 (£229.00), Suunto dropped the Run (£199.00) and Amazfit found a way to pack offline maps into the Active 3 Premium (£169.90). This has left Garmin with a noticeable gap in its line-up.
