Garmin’s major Q3 update brings fall detection, "OK Garmin," and more to Fenix 8 and others

Garmin recently began rolling out the major third-quarter 2026 update to a range of smartwatches. As usual, it may take several weeks for the update to become available for download to all users of compatible smartwatches. The update is available for the following smartwatches: Garmin’s table shows which of the new features are available on which smartwatches. Probably the most exciting new feature is the improved voice control, which can be activated with the voice command "OK Garmin" to, for example, start an activity. To access the voice assistant on the connected smartphone instead, you can use the voice command "Phone Assistant."
