The Forerunner 970 sits at the top of Garmin’s Forerunner lineup . At $749.99 , it sits above the Forerunner 965 (now on sale for $499.99 , down from its $599.99 launch price) and well below the Garmin Fenix 8 Pro —while offering most of what that more rugged sibling provides at significantly less weight and a much lower profile on the wrist. Improvements over the Forerunner 965 include a more durable sapphire lens, built-in LED flashlight, microphone and speaker, and new performance metrics like Running Economy and Running Tolerance scores (allegedly—more on those below).
