Garmin Forerunner 70 Review: This Budget Fitness Watch Has Some High-End Features

Garmin has so neglected its entry-level running watches that I thought Garmin had forgotten about the category. The last "two-digit" Forerunner on the market was the 55, released in 2021. It’s a fine watch (world record holder Sabastian Sawe wore it when he ran his sub-2 marathon), but the older screen style and the limited software features made it feel dated. Since then, its fancier sister model, the 955, was upgraded to the 965, and then the 970. The 255 became the 265, and then got a different 270-level replacement. Meanwhile, the 55 sat alone on the bottom shelf, never getting an upgrade in the 65 generation.
