Garmin Forerunner 170 Review: These Feature Upgrades Will Help You Train Smarter, but the Battery Life Isn't an Upgrade

When the Garmin Forerunner 170 was first announced earlier this month, some aspects were easy to dismiss as an underwhelming upgrade to the 165: the same GPS, same heart rate sensor, and a day less battery life. So at first glance, the price of the 170 ( $299.99 ) is a confusing jump compared to the 165, which regularly goes on sale for under $200 . But after spending some time with the 170 on my wrist, I am impressed with how Garmin has packed it with training tools that were previously reserved for watches costing $449 or more. And depending on your priorities as a runner, this could change your buying decision entirely.
