Apple puts Whoop in its sights with new health metrics

The history of companies making smart wearables is littered with failure, as upstart hardware makers succumbed time after time to competition from tech giants. Now Whoop, one of Boston’s most promising private tech companies , finds itself squarely in the crosshairs of Big Tech. On Wednesday, Apple announced it was adding a bevy of new features to its Health app that appear very similar to what Whoop offers. And earlier this summer both Google and Garmin debuted screenless smart bands similar to Whoop’s wearable.
